Reflecting upon colonial (dis)continuities – what we should stop doing and what we can do alternatively
While there is growing consciousness – at least in the Humanities and Social Sciences – that the academic world is strongly influenced by asymmetries originating from colonialism (including the dominance of colonial languages, epistemic violence, uneven research agendas, Western-centered publications and conference circuses etc.), relatively little is proposed to overcome those. This presentation will give a number of examples of current approaches based on the speaker’s own experiences.
