The graduate workshop aims at discussing key concepts of Schelling’s Ages of the World in a joint close reading of the text, focusing on concepts such as the past and the absolute, principles and potencies, necessity and freedom, but also Schelling’s theory of madness and his discussion of Spinoza. Students and PhD candidates will give brief presentations to initiate and structure four close-reading sessions devoted to selected passages from Schelling’s text. Our discussions will be based on the version of the Sämmtliche Werke, SW I/8, pp. 207-243, pp. 337-344.
Participation is open to all. Please register with: soeren.wulf@philosophie.uni-freiburg.de
At the same time, the workshop will deepen discussion of the main elements of Brady Bowman’s talk from the evening before (June 27, 2019). Please find further information on the lecture here.
