In The Ages of the World Schelling elaborates a conception linking natural vitality, value realism, moral freedom, and (divine) creativity. By distinguishing God’s constituted essence from its non-causal, axiological condition of possibility, Schelling is able to give a powerful reinterpretation of two key Spinozist ideas: divine self-creation and the identification of God’s power with his essence.
A graduate workshop will be held the following day (June 28, 2019) to deepen our discussion of Schelling’s Ages of the World. Please find further information on the workshop here.
