Sustainability Research

With funding by the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation, the University of Freiburg is strengthening its activities in the field of sustainability research and aims to initiate new collaborative research projects.

There are four project formats that address scientists of all career levels:



	Young Academy for Sustainability Research	Eva Mayr-Stihl Fellowships
	The Young Academy brings together talented scientists from a wide range of disciplines at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies	At the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources, a fellowship programme invites international researchers to work in Freiburg for up to nine months


	Profile Field Environment and Sustainability	Saltus! Research Group
	The profile field promotes the university's strategic development in the area of environment and sustainability	The research group initiates collaborative projects in the field of sustainability research

Stihl-Stiftung

The Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation was established in 1986 by Eva Mayr-Stihl and her husband Robert Mayr. One of the focal points of the foundation's work is promoting science and research. At the University of Freiburg, it has significantly supported the strategic development of research in the broad field of environmental and sustainability research since the 1990s, in particular with endowed and named professorships, prizes and research funding. The first funding initiative began at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources and was later expanded to the Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering's (INATECH) Faculty of Microengineering. The University of Freiburg awarded Eva Mayr-Stihl and Robert Mayr the title of Honorary Senator for their extraordinary contribution to the positive development of the University.
