FRIAS Research Foci for the Academic Year 2016/17

This year FRIAS again publishes a call for applications within its very successful research funding programme “Research Foci”. This call is addressed to groups of researchers in any field of research within the University of Freiburg which is characterized by outstanding academic performance and has ideally already achieved international visibility.

Up to two areas of research focus will be funded in the academic year 2016/17. This year for the first time research foci of variable size between four and twelve fellows can be applied for, thereby meeting more accurately the different needs of the various research disciplines at the University of Freiburg. Eligible for application are teams of up to four full-time professors of the University of Freiburg, each of whom can receive a FRIAS Fellowship in case of success. Each team of applicants may include at most one junior professor.

FRIAS Project Groups 2015/16

For the first time FRIAS announces a call for up to three project groups in any field of research within the University of Freiburg. This funding programme is intended to promote research collaborations at an early stage. A project group may include multiple fields and is characterized by a common research subject or a unifying problem. The funding phase extends over a period of 12 to 18 months between 01.10.2015 and 30.04.2017.

Eligible for application are teams of three to six researchers, thereof at least two full-time professors of the University of Freiburg. The project group receives funding for scientific events, travel expenses and invitations of guest scientist. FRIAS supports the work of the project group administratively. Fellowships for the applicants are not included in this funding programme.

Joint Call for Fellowships between Strasbourg and Freiburg 2015-17

FRIAS and the Université de Strasbourg Institut d’Études Avancées (USIAS) announce their second joint call. The institutes welcome applications from excellent researchers from the University of Freiburg and the University of Strasbourg for joint research groups for a duration of up to 24 months starting in October 2015. Inclusion of researchers from abroad, especially from Basel, is highly welcome.

The first fellow generation working together on their collaboration projects since October 2013 has already proven the success of this funding format.The aim of the second joint call is to further strengthen and stabilize the collaboration between researchers of the two universities.
