Responsible Artificial Intelligence: whose responsibility and for what?

For new and emerging sciences and and technologies, responsibility is a compatible concept for many academic disciplines but also legal norms, regulation and governance. A challenge, however, is to identify the right bearer of responsibility, e.g. a legal person or corporation, in any given situation. In the context of human-AI interaction, this might become even more difficult when parts of human capacities, such as decision-making or agency, are delegated to 'intelligent' systems.

In the FRIAS Dinner Speech we will jointly explore the consequences for ascribing and negotiating responsibility in these emerging form of human-technology interaction.
