Comme Appelé du Néant - in memory of Alexander Grothendieck
Abstract: Alexander Grothendieck, a towering figure of 20th century mathematics, passed away in November 2014. I will speak briefly about Grothendieck, the man, and try to give a glimpse into the remarkable mathematical heritage he left behind.
The talk is aimed at a non-specialist audience.
