Wieland's virtual library – experiences with a data-based reconstruction
The presentation will introduce the website of 'Wielands virtuelle Bibliothek' (Wieland’s virtual library) (https://wvb.ub.uni-freiburg.de), show its central functions and discuss its performance as a research tool. First of all, it will be explained based on which sources 'Wielands virtual library' has been (re)constructed and which technology was used to build up the database. Secondly, exemplary research will be used to demonstrate and discuss the functionality of the website. And thirdly, the presentation will critically reflect upon the potential to improve the implementation of related projects: How can dynamic changes in a library be better represented? And how can the effective use that a poet has made of his library be displayed in the database?
