Call for Nominations - FRESCO programme 2020-25

FRESCO is the Freiburg Research Collaboration Programme via which the University of Freiburg intends to establish long-lasting, sustainable links between excellent researchers from Freiburg and high-ranking national and international researchers to substantially strengthen and develop existing profile and emerging fields and thereby enhance the University of Freiburg’s overall research profile.

The Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies is offering

External FRESCO Fellowships

(between July 01, 2020, and December 31, 2025, maximum duration 10 months)

The Nomination Deadline was on April 30, 2020, 24.00 h CET

Fellowships will be awarded to individuals with challenging and innovative research projects through a competitive and strictly merit-based selection process. The all-important selection criteria are the academic excellence of the nominee and the nominee’s fit to the profile or emerging field at the University of Freiburg.

Up to 7 FRESCO fellowships are available to researchers regardless of their nationality. Candidates must be nominated by a member of a profile or emerging field at the University of Freiburg (https://www.uni-freiburg.de/forschung-en/research-profile) who will also serve as host for the period of the fellowship. The fellow and the Freiburg researcher will work in a collaborative manner on a particular research topic of their own choice.

The 6-10 month fellowships in Freiburg will be divided into separate stays over maximally 5 years.

Successful nominees will become FRIAS fellows with all the corresponding rights and obligations for the requested funding period. FRIAS makes every effort to provide tailor-made solutions with regard to suitable accommodation, child care and educational facilities.

The FRESCO nomination has to be submitted in the form of one single PDF file to Dr. Katrin Brandt (katrin.brandt@frias.uni-freiburg.de) by April 30, 2020; 24.00 h CET.

The final selection will be made by the international FRIAS Scientific Advisory Board.
