FRIAS as a host institution
FRIAS offers fellowships for scientists with own funding for uninterrupted research visits of more than two months, provided they have a connection to a person/institution at the University of Freiburg. Applications may be subjected to further scientific evaluation by FRIAS.
FRIAS assumes the customary duties of a host institute and provides organisational assistance concerning the visit. In addition, the Institute can accept scholarship holders of renowned funding programs - e.g. Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), Heisenberg Grant, Volkswagen Foundation, European Research Council (ERC), German Research Foundation (DFG) - with an explicit interest in the interdisciplinary FRIAS community as fellows for the duration of their funding.
FRIAS provides a fully equipped working desk at the Institute and additional support for the research work as well as a very stimulating intellectual atmosphere. In return, at least an 80% presence at FRIAS, participation in the academic programme, and, more generally, a willingness to engage in an exchange with the FRIAS community is expected. Please note that most FRIAS activities fall within the period from October to July.
