Young Academy for Sustainability Research (YAS) Kick Off Next Generation - Workshop 'Imagining Future Cities'

The Young Academy for Sustainability Research (YAS) was established at FRIAS in 2021 with funding from the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation and is composed of postdoctoral researchers from a wide range of disciplines - from anthropology to engineering. Over the past three years, the members of the first YAS generation have been working on joint research projects, publications and projects on the topic of sustainability. At the beginning of 2024, the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation approved the extension of this globally unique Young Academy so that a further cohort of sustainability scientists from Freiburg and institutions around the world could be selected.

At the beginning of the winter semester 2024/25, the new members will be officially welcomed at the FRIAS in a ceremonial multi-day event and will get to know the members of the first YAS generation as well as their projects.

The keynote speech by Dr. Patricia García García (University of Alcalá) entitled “Imagining Future Cities” provides a thematic introduction, to which we cordially invite a wider audience.
