Behind the Facade of the 'Liefmann-Haus'. Film and Discussion
The 30-minute documentary ‘Ein Haus erzählt Geschichte’ (SWR 2007) tells the story of the ‘Liefmann-Haus’, from the architectural concept of the late 19th century to the current conversion as university guesthouse. Henrike Lähnemann will introduce the film with additional research into the history of the families of Liefmann (Goethestraße 33) and Daube (Goethestraße 35) for whom the villa was built, and the fate of the house after the deportation of the Baden citizens of Jewish origin in 1940 to Gurs when the house was turned into the Gestapo headquarters. There will be room for discussion afterwards. All welcome!
After the event, everybody is welcome to join Henrike Lähnemann and Shelly Levy-Tzedek at the Liefmann-Haus itself to mark the end of the FRIAS year and the end, the departure for this year by Shelly and her family of the ten years of fellowship for Henrike. Salads and drinks welcome, Spätzle and ice-cream will be provided!
