'Unerhörte Frauen. Die Netzwerke der Nonnen im Mittelalter (Ullstein 2023)'

To mark the upcoming end of term, we cordially invite you to a special event with Prof. Henrike Lähnemann (Oxford). On Wednesday, July 19, at 2:15pm, right after the FRIAS Lunch Lecture “Doing God: New Perspectives in Medieval Studies” (with a talk by Prof. Walid Saleh), we are going to celebrate the publication of Henrike Lähnemann and Eva Schlotheuber’s new book called Unerhörte Frauen. Die Netzwerke der Nonnen im Mittelalter (Ullstein 2023), which sheds new light on medieval women’s lives and writing. The two authors have analysed largely unknown sources - diaries, letters, but also tapestries and wall paintings. The book launch takes place in the FRIAS lounge and will be hosted by Prof. Racha Kirakosian (German Studies). Finger food and beverages will be served. We are looking forward to seeing many of you there!

NB: A complimentary copy of the book will go to the person who suggests a catchy title for the English translation currently in preparation – ‘Remarkable Women’? 'Outrageous Habits'? 'Nuntastic'? Feel free to submit suggestions directly to Henrike Lähnemann!

Moderated by Prof. Dr. Racha Kirakosian
