Statistics Workshop "Modelling Diversity in Language and Cognition"

The workshop is devoted to innovative ways of dealing with the manifold challenges posed by psycholinguistic research on individual differences.

On the first day, Yu-Ying Chuang (Tübingen, Germany) will discuss ways of modelling variation with Generalized additive mixed models (GAMMS). In the afternoon, Mehrgol Tiv (McGill, Canada) and Isabell Hubert Lyal (Edmonton, Canada) will present studies illustrating how GAMMS can be put into practice. On the second day, Philip Alday (Boston, MA, USA) will introduce simulation with mixed models as a tool for dealing with imbalanced samples.

The intended audience includes advanced Master‘s students, PhD candidates and interested researchers. We recommend that participants have at least basic experience using multiple regression and linear mixed effects models.
