Against the background of global climate change, environmental degradation and resource scarcity, socio-ecological relations have gained growing attention in public and political arenas. In this conference we will analyze the complex relationship between urban development and environmental challenges from a wide range of disciplines and perspectives. In particular we intend to bring the interpretative power of the humanities and social sciences to an understanding of environmental change, sustainability and the politics of nature.
