The Advantage of Inkjet Printing
In this lecture, an introduction to inkjet printing is given which explains that its ability to produce structures without the need for masks is why many see it as an appealing technique for the production of solar panel interconnects, printed electronics and numerous other applications. Attention will then be paid to the behaviour of ejected ink droplets once they make contact with the substrate. Typically such droplets dry to form a distinctive structure known as a coffee stain. Why such features occur and how they can be prevented will be discussed.
The second part of the talk will focus on applications where inkjet printing has been seen to confer an advantage.
