A Biological Approach to Fundamental Reality
It is generally accepted at this time that the so-called Standard Model cannot be the ultimate 'theory of everything', implying the existence of 'physics beyond the Standard Model'. It is also not known what determines which out of a large 'landscape' of possible universes will emerge at the time of the big bang. Wheeler invoked quantum 'observer-participation' to account for this emergence. Here I shall discuss an alternative view, involving the idea that a form of life, based on the presumed 'physics beyond the Standard Model', is the creative factor, evolving until it develops a capacity to create viable universes. This domain of phenomena beyond the Standard Model may also function as a resource for the human mind, enhancing the capacities of the mind in the same way that 'cloud computing' enhances the capacities of the individual computer.
