Non-trivial quantum effects in biology?
We discuss the possibility of the existence of entanglement in biological systems. Our arguments centre on the fact that biological systems are thermodynamic open driven systems far from equilibrium. We will first review some recent work on entanglement and de-coherence in so-called spin gases, and the possibility of stabilizing entanglement without sophisticated means of coding and error correction. We will show how these findings also provide a new perspective to study entanglement in molecular biology.
