Theory of Science: how to gain knowledge in modern biology

Many scientists unwittingly perform experimental work, publish new ideas and gain data following the rules of the Theory of Science. In this respect and in contrast to early times, the Theory of Science is often debated but mostly ignored/forgotten/not known. Fundamental knowledge in biology, the functional language in science, the phrasing of new theories, and the experimental design, which is the daily fundament of an experimental Biologist, is outlaid in the different philosophical approaches of the Theory of Science. Especially in times where ethics, faking and public debates on hot topics in biology are discussed by the public and politicians, knowledge on the Theory of Science can help in argumentations. Furthermore it can clarify the functional language in science and can help in the education of young scientist to have a basis for their scientific work. This seminar is an attempt of a biologist to approach the philosophical questions on the Theory of science.
