Moritz Baßler & Lorenza Mondada: "Procedures of eXistenZ"

Let’s try out a new format: Have a light dinner, watch a movie together, listen to a short paper on the film and have a lively discussion. This night’s show is going to be eXistenZ by David Cronenberg (1999, 96 min., featuring Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jude Law). It is a movie about game play on several levels of reality and is likely to trigger discussions about computer gaming, biotechnology, realism, evolution, the power of gestures, philosophy of existence and transcendence, and conspiracy theories – thereby combining some of the most renowned research matters at FRIAS at the moment. To provide a solid base for the interdisciplinary plenum, the paper by Lorenza and Moritz will focus on procedures for creating multiple realities.
