Generating research impact in and for a climate-changing world: a challenge to academia
A presentation by Prof. Lauren Rickards, IPCC author, Director of the La Trobe Climate Change Adaptation Lab, and FRIAS FRESCO Fellow 2023-2025
In this lecture, climate change expert Prof. Lauren Rickards from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia, will discuss the relationship between two recent trends: the demand on universities to generate “research impact”, and the need for all organisations and institutions to reduce negative climate change impacts. It will argue that regardless of the specific research we do, both of these trends are deeply relevant to us, and together present a valuable opportunity to reflect on what we within academia are doing, and could do, individually and collectively to cultivate positive futures.
