Isabella Beck studied Law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and the University Panthéon-Assas (Paris II) within the framework of a double-degree program organized by the Franco-German University. During her legal traineeship at the Freiburg District Court, she spent several months at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg and the Federal Foreign Ministry in Berlin. From 2017 on, she has been working for Prof. Dr. Silja Vöneky, (Co) Director of the Institute for Public Law and Professor of Public International Law, Comparative Law and Ethics of Law at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg. She is now writing her doctoral thesis on the topic of „Extraterritorial application of the right to life with a special focus on the regulation of artificial intelligence – an analysis based on the European Convention on Human Rights and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union”. At FRIAS, she is now pursuing her research in international human rights law as academic assistant to the FRIAS Saltus! Group Responsible Artificial Intelligence.
