Tomáš Šmejkal

Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry
Postdoc with External Senior Fellow Michael Krische

CV

Tomáš Šmejkal received his diploma in organic chemistry in 2005 form the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague. Thereafter, he joined the research group of Professor Bernhard Breit at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg as a graduate student. His PhD thesis deals with the development of biomimetic catalyst systems that allow for rapid, selective and clean chemical transformations. Currently, he works as a Post-Doctoral Fellow on a joint project with Professor Bernhard Breit and Professor Michael Krische.

FRIAS Project

Development of new manufacturing methods using the expertise of both research groups, namely - supramolecular catalysis and hydrogen mediated C-C bond formation. We will seek fast and modular approaches so as to make the best use of the resources keeping in mind cost, effort, and time associated with the synthetic process.
