Protein Engineering and Molecular Biology
Institute of Biology III
PhD Student with Junior Fellow Katja Arndt

CV

Padmarupa Kothapalli received her B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food & Nutrition in 1997 from Nagarjuna University, India, and her M.Sc. in Medical Biochemistry in 2000 from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India. In 2007, she received a second M.Sc. degree in Nanoscience & Nanotechnology from the University Rovira I Virgili, Spain. After some additional research training at the Technical University of Munich, she joined the lab of Katja Arndt in January 2009, and became member of FRIAS in November 2009.

The group of Katja Arndt works on the development and application of interfering peptides (iPEP) specifically directed against protein-protein interaction domains of transcription factors such as Jun, Fos, Myc and AF10. Peptides are developed using a semi-rational approach with different in vitro and in vivo selection systems. In this context, Padmarupa Kothapalli will work on developing suitable selection systems and applying these for the selection of new interfering peptides. Peptides will subsequently be characterized biochemically and biophysically as well as in various cell culture models.
