Neues Buch "The Left Side of History - World War II and the Unfulfilled Promise of Communism in Eastern Europe" von FRIAS-Fellow Kristen Ghodsee veröffentlicht
In The Left Side of History Kristen Ghodsee tells the stories of partisans fighting behind the lines in Nazi-allied Bulgaria during World War II: British officer Frank Thompson, brother of the great historian E.P. Thompson, and fourteen-year-old Elena Lagadinova, the youngest female member of the armed anti-fascist resistance.
Gelungene Auftaktveranstaltung Freiburger Horizonte mit Klaus Töpfer
Mit einer Vortragsveranstaltung zum Thema Energiewende mit Bundesminister a.D. Prof. Klaus Töpfer als Hauptredner des Abends startete das Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS) am 12.2.2015 seine neue Veranstaltungsreihe „Freiburger Horizonte“.
ERC-Consolidator Grant für FRIAS-Fellow Tobias Schätz
Tobias Schätz, FRIAS Internal Senior Fellow und Professor für Atom- und Quantenphysik der Universität Freiburg, hat für das Projekt TIAMO (Trapping Ions in Atoms and Molecules Optically) erfolgreich eine Förderung des Europäischen Forschungsgrants (ERC) eingeworben.
