The FRIAS School of Soft Matter Research has established an interdisciplinary and international research college based on strengths in the Freiburg Chemistry and Physics Departments and at the Institute for Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) in the field of Soft Matter (liquid crystals, polymers, DNA, etc.).
In collaboration with scientists from the participating University of Freiburg faculties, the school’s fellows are developing new, innovative fields of research that are of strategic interest far beyond the Freiburg Soft Matter community. Our intention is, for example, to develop new materials and technologies which will eventually have important industrial applications.
