How life began on this planet will always be something of a mystery. But there is little doubt about the fact that polymers existed before life began, since the life as we know it requires replicating polymers that contain information. Since the time of primordial origins some billions of years ago until the present era of plethora of modern materials defining our civilization, polymers are matrixes of living. The lecture will introduce structures and dynamics of polymers in the selective contexts of genes, viruses, and modern materials.
