The issue of “Gendered Innovations” is receiving increasing attention by research funding bodies on European and national levels. In an interdisciplinary workshop, Londa Schiebinger, world authority on gender in science, will shed light on the potentials of including gender and diversity perspectives in research and innovation. Employing case studies from various disciplines, she will show how sex and gender analysis contributes to the power, vitality, and quality of research, saves lives and money, and eliminates bias.
Participants will be given the exclusive opportunity to discuss their research ideas from a gender and diversity angle with Londa Schiebinger and other researchers.
Londa Schiebinger is the John L. Hinds Professor of History of Science at Stanford University and Director of the EU/US Gendered Innovations in Science, Health & Medicine, Engineering, and Environment Project. From 2004-2010, Schiebinger served as the Director of Stanford's Clayman Institute for Gender Research. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
