Protein dynamics during autophagy analyzed by quantitative mass spectrometry
Autophagy plays an essential role in cell maintenance, differentiation and development. It is thought to be important for the turn-over of whole organelles and long-lived proteins. The aim of this project is to reveal regulation, other subtypes, possible selectivity of autophagy and possible cross-talk between the autophagosomal and proteasomal system. These subjects are investigated by using a combination of techniques including quantitative mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics relying on stable isotope labeling by amino acids in cell culture (SILAC) to follow global protein dynamics during autophagy.
